# Reset User Consents

### Overview

The **Reset User Consents** feature allows you to clear previously collected consent choices from your store visitors. After resetting, all visitors will be asked again to provide their cookie preferences when they revisit your store.

This is useful when your consent setup or legal messaging changes and you need to collect updated consent.

### How It Works

When you trigger a consent reset:

* Existing consent records stored on the visitor’s browser are cleared
* The consent banner is displayed again to all visitors
* Visitors are required to make a new consent choice

The reset action applies to the **live store immediately**, as confirmed in the interface prompt.

### Key Points to Understand

* The reset affects **all visitors**, not specific users
* It removes the stored consent cookie (`_pandectes_gdpr`)
* Visitors will see the banner again even if they had previously accepted or declined
* Consent collection **starts fresh** from the moment of reset
* Historical consent records in reports are **not deleted**, only the visitor-side consent is reset 

### When to Use Reset Consents

You may need to reset consents in cases such as:

* Changes to your **Privacy Policy**
* Updates to your **cookie categories or definitions**
* Adding new tracking technologies or integrations
* Changing the **banner behavior or consent logic**

Resetting ensures that consent remains aligned with your current setup.

### How to Reset User Consents

1. Go to the relevant section in the app where **Reset user consents** is available
2. Click the **Reset consent** button
3. Confirm the action in the popup dialog

Once confirmed, the reset is applied immediately to your live store.

### Common Questions or Notes

* **Does this delete consent reports?**
  No. Existing consent logs remain available in the Reports section.

* **Will returning visitors see the banner again?**
  Yes. All visitors will be treated as new until they provide consent again.

* **Can this be undone?**
  No. Resetting consent cannot be reversed.
