How to install Pandectes widgets on older Shopify themes (Legacy theme support)
Legacy theme support is for stores on older themes that cannot use theme app sections. Instead of adding blocks in the theme editor, you copy ready made code snippets from the app and paste them into your theme files.
This guide covers:
- Customer data requests
- Cookie declaration
- Do not sell my data
- EU withdrawal button
Each instructions view walks you through the standard Online Store 2.0 setup first.
At the bottom of those instructions, you will see a panel:
If the above doesn't work for your store, check below:
That panel has two links:
- Legacy theme support install instructions — for older Shopify themes
- Custom storefront (headless) install instructions — for Hydrogen or other external frontends
Click Legacy theme support install instructions to open the legacy setup page for your shop.
When should you use legacy theme support?
Use it when all of the following are true:
- Your theme is an older Shopify theme that does not support Online Store 2.0 app sections, or you cannot add Pandectes blocks through the theme editor.
- You are not using a custom headless storefront. Headless stores should use the Custom storefront link in the instructions footer instead.
If your theme does support Online Store 2.0, follow the main steps in the instructions modal. Legacy snippets are only for when that standard flow is not possible.
Plan requirement
Legacy theme support is available on Premium and higher plans.
If you are on a lower plan, install snippets appear locked in the app and you will see an upgrade prompt.
How to set up a widget (step by step)
Every widget needs three things: app configuration, legacy theme support turned on, and snippets pasted into your theme.
Step 1 Configure the widget in Pandectes
Open the widget’s settings page, set up the content and options you want, and click Save.
Widget | Settings page |
|---|---|
Customer data requests | Customer Data Requests |
Cookie declaration | Cookies Declaration |
Do Not Sell | Do not sell my data |
EU withdrawal button | Withdrawal |
Saving updates what the storefront widget will show. It does not add the widget to your theme by itself.
Step 2 Open legacy install instructions
- On the same widget page, open View instructions or Instructions.
- Scroll to the bottom panel: If the above doesn't work for your store, check below:
- Click Legacy theme support install instructions.
You are taken to the legacy setup page for your shop.
Step 3 Enable legacy theme support
On the legacy setup page:
- Click Enable on the status banner at the top.
- The app prepares install snippets for your shop.
When legacy theme support is on, you can view and copy snippets for Eu Withdrawal button, Customer Data Requests, Do not sell my data, and Cookie declaration.
When it is off, snippets stay hidden until you enable it.
Step 4 Copy and paste the snippet for your widget
Still on the legacy setup page, open the section that matches the widget you are installing and follow the copy and paste steps.
Always copy snippets from the app. Do not edit the code or build the URLs yourself.
Install steps for each widget
Enable legacy theme support first (steps above), then use the matching section on the legacy setup page.
EU withdrawal
- Open the Shopify page where the form should appear (or create one).

- Press on the "Show Html" on the page editor.
- Paste the Customer data requests snippet.
- Save your page.

If you use Online Store 2.0 instead, name your page template donotsell.
