About the Cookie Declaration

Easily understand the basics of setting up a Cookie Declaration on your Shopify store. This powerful, automated feature helps you stay compliant with global privacy regulations, no manual input required.

Note: The Cookie Declaration is available on all paid plans.

The Cookie Declaration acts as a dynamic, auto-updating cookie policy page for your store.

After running a cookie scan, our app automatically generates a declaration containing all the cookies your store uses. This includes key details such as:

  • Cookie name and purpose
  • Expiration period
  • Originating domain
  • Cookie category (e.g., marketing, analytics, essential)

This functionality not only saves you time but also ensures compliance with data privacy laws like the GDPR, CCPA, and others.

How It Works

  1. When you install and configure the app, the Cookie Scanner runs in the background and detects cookies used on your store.
  2. The app creates a tailored Cookie Declaration based on the scan results.
  3. The data is automatically updated in real-time when changes occur (e.g., new cookies added).
  4. The declaration is populated directly from our internal cookie database, so no manual writing is needed.
  5. You can embed the declaration on any page of your store using a simple code snippet.

This setup ensures that your cookie policy remains up to date and compliant, without requiring technical knowledge or external tools.

The declaration dynamically includes:

  1. Last Updated Timestamp
  • Automatically reflects the most recent cookie scan or manual change.
  1. Complete List of Cookies
  • Categorized by type (e.g., necessary, analytics, marketing).
  • Includes descriptions, purposes, and technical details.
  • Combines automatic scan results with any custom cookies you’ve added.

💡 You can also add an optional introductory message above the declaration to provide context or highlight your store’s cookie practices.

Yes. The declaration automatically inherits your store’s theme styling.

If you want additional customization, you can use your theme’s stylesheet and apply custom styles using the !important CSS rule.
