Accessibility Widget
Pandectes Accessibility Widget
Overview
The Pandectes Accessibility Widget allows merchants to provide visitors with tools that adjust the storefront experience based on accessibility preferences. These tools can modify visual presentation, navigation, and readability.
This article explains how the widget works, how it is enabled, and how to configure its behavior.
How It Works
The accessibility widget is delivered to the storefront through a Shopify theme app embed. The widget loads based on:
- App-level visibility settings
- Configured device and region rules
Once enabled, visitors can open the widget and apply accessibility adjustments such as contrast, text size, or reading aids.
Key Points to Understand
- The widget requires a Premium (or higher) plan
- App settings control whether the widget is visible to: All visitors, Admins only, No one (disabled)
- Configuration changes require saving in the app
- Some features may be locked based on plan or permissions
Step 1: Control Widget Visibility
Use the status controls inside the app:
- Enable — Widget is visible to all visitors
- Disable — Widget is hidden
- Restrict to admins only — Visible only to store staff

These controls apply immediately and are separate from the main settings save action.
Settings Overview
The Accessibility configuration is organized into four tabs.

Widget
Controls the launcher appearance and placement:
- Icon selection
- Theme (Blue, Dark, Custom)
- Position (bottom left / right)
- Size (small, medium, large)
- Device visibility (desktop / mobile / both)
- Distance from screen edges (0–130 range for right/left, 0-200 rage for bottom)
- Mobile-specific overrides
- Custom styling

Menu Settings
Controls widget functionality and tools so merchants can control how the widget appears on users.

Accessibility Profiles
Profiles apply multiple settings at once, such as:
- ADHD
- Dyslexia
- Visually impaired
- Seizure-sensitive
Selecting a profile applies a predefined combination of adjustments.
Oversized Widget
Enabled this to expand the accessibility interface for desktop users. This setting scales up text and button containers, making it significantly easier for individuals with low vision or reading challenges to navigate. Once enabled, the layout automatically optimizes its spacing and font sizes to ensure every tool is clear and accessible.
Widget position & visibility
Empower your visitors with the Move & Hide features. Users can reposition the dialog to either the left or right side of the screen for a personalized browsing experience. Additionally, the “Hide widget” option allows users to dismiss the interface for a week, a month, or permanently. This ensures a clutter-free UI for returning visitors while maintaining your site's commitment to accessibility.Recommend placing image.
Keyboard shortcut toggle
Enable users to launch the accessibility dialog instantly by pressing the CTRL+M key. This feature is critical for keyboard-only navigation and screen reader users who rely on sequential focus.
Show widget only when activated
Enable this setting to keep the widget icon invisible upon page load. The interface will only appear when triggered by a user (such as via a keyboard shortcut). This is the perfect solution for minimalist storefronts that want to maintain a clean aesthetic while still providing robust accessibility tools on demand.
Show powered by
This setting allows you to toggle the “Powered by Pandectes” label within the widget interface. You can choose to hide the label for a completely white-label, minimalist look, or keep it visible to demonstrate that your store utilizes a trusted, industry-standard accessibility solution.
Content
Controls language and accessibility statement options:

- Set default language
- Configure available languages
- Enable widget language switcher (if more than one languages are published)
- Add accessibility statement URL (e.g.
/pages/accessibility-statement)
Visibility
Controls where the widget is shown:

- Regional visibility: Worldwide and Specific countries or regions
If no regions are selected while worldwide is disabled, the widget will not appear.
Common Questions or Notes
- The widget requires both: Theme embed enabled and Visibility set to "Enable"
- The widget configuration is versioned and delivered to the storefront.
- The widget provides accessibility tools, but it does not guarantee compliance with accessibility regulations or standards.
Summary
The Pandectes Accessibility Widget provides configurable tools to improve storefront usability for visitors. To function correctly, it must be enabled both in the theme and within the app settings. Merchants can control its appearance, tools, language, and visibility through structured configuration tabs.
