Accessibility Widget
Overview
The Pandectes Accessibility Widget helps visitors adjust the storefront experience based on their accessibility preferences.
Visitors can use the widget to change visual presentation, improve readability, and enable navigation or reading aids. This article explains how the widget works, how to control its visibility, and how to configure its main settings.
How it works
The accessibility widget loads on the storefront through the Shopify theme app embed.
The widget display depends on:
- App-level visibility status
- Device visibility settings
- Region visibility settings
- Saved widget configuration
Once enabled, visitors can open the widget and apply available accessibility adjustments, such as contrast changes, text size changes, profiles, or reading tools.

Settings overview
The Accessibility configuration is organized into four tabs:
Tab | Purpose |
|---|---|
Style | Controls launcher appearance, placement, size, and custom styling. |
Features | Controls which accessibility tools and widget behaviors are available. |
Content | Controls language options and the accessibility statement link. |
Visibility | Controls where the widget appears by region. |

1. Style
Use the Style tab to configure how the launcher appears on the storefront.
You can configure:
- Icon selection
- Theme: Blue, Dark, or Custom
- Position: bottom left or bottom right
- Size: small, medium, or large
- Device visibility: desktop, mobile, or both
- Distance from screen edges
- Mobile-specific overrides
- Custom styling

2. Features
Use the Features tab to control which accessibility tools and widget behaviors are available to visitors.

Accessibility profiles
Accessibility profiles apply multiple settings at once.
Examples include:
- ADHD
- Dyslexia
- Visually impaired
- Seizure-sensitive
When a visitor selects a profile, the widget applies a predefined combination of adjustments.
Feature options
Option | What it does |
|---|---|
Oversized widget | Enlarges the accessibility interface for desktop users. This can make text, buttons, and spacing easier to read and use. |
Widget position and visibility | Lets visitors move the widget dialog to the left or right side of the screen, where supported. |
Hide widget | Allows visitors to hide the interface for a selected period, such as a week, a month, or permanently. |
Keyboard shortcut toggle | Allows visitors to open the accessibility dialog using CTRL + M. |
Show widget only when activated | Keeps the widget icon hidden on page load. The widget appears only when activated by a supported trigger, such as the keyboard shortcut. |
Show powered by | Shows or hides the “Powered by Pandectes” label inside the widget interface. |
3. Content
Use the Content tab to configure language and accessibility statement options.

You can configure:
- Default language
- Available widget languages
- Widget language switcher
- Accessibility statement URL, such as
/pages/accessibility-statement
The language switcher is available when more than one language is published.
4. Visibility
Use the Visibility tab to control where the widget appears.

You can configure:
- Worldwide visibility
- Specific country or region visibility
If Worldwide is disabled and no regions are selected, the widget will not appear on the storefront.
Common notes
- The widget requires both the Shopify theme app embed and the app visibility status to be enabled.
- If the widget does not appear, check the visibility status, region settings, and device settings.
- Some options may be locked depending on your plan.
- The widget provides accessibility tools, but it does not guarantee compliance with accessibility regulations or standards.
- Test the widget on desktop and mobile after making changes.
Summary
The Pandectes Accessibility Widget lets merchants offer storefront accessibility tools through a configurable widget. You can control who sees the widget, how it looks, which tools are available, which languages are shown, and where it appears by region.
