Checkout block
Understand how to use the checkout block feature in your Shopify store with our comprehensive guide. Ensure a seamless and compliant checkout process.
Checkout Ul extensions are available only to stores on a Shopify Plus plan. This means that our checkout block is only available to Shopify Plus stores.
On this article we decribe how you can add our cookie banner inside your checkout by adding our checkout extention. Our extention follows the recent updates from Shopify about Shopify Checkout Extensibility.
As of August 13, 2024, checkout.liquid for the information, shipping, and payment pages will be turned off and no longer supported.
As of August 28, 2025, checkout.liquid for the thank you and order status pages will be turned off and no longer supported. This also includes turning off apps using script tags and additional scripts under the post-purchase and order status pages. Shopify Scripts will continue to work alongside checkout extensibility until this date.
Shopify Plus merchants can now use checkout extensibility to customize their checkout, thank you, order status, and customer account pages.
If this is your first time adding a checkout block to your checkout, you'll first want to add the block to the checkout editor. Once you've accessed the checkout block section within our app settings, you want to click the add to editor button. This will allow you to open up the checkout editor that Shopify has provided.
You'll see that there is our app checkout block here. Click that it'll add one to the page, and then you'll want to drag and drop it wherever you want your checkout block to appear. In this case, we want to appear inside the header.
Now you see a preview on the right on the header section.
Click save on the top right of the page editor. Νow your checkout block will appear within checkout.
This process of adding the checkout block and selecting it's placement is common for the pages: Information, Shipping & Payment. For the thank you page you need to repeat the same steps to add and place the block there.
Exit your checkout editor, go back to the app, and then go to the Settings > Checkout block.
First of all the banner that loads as checkout block inside checkout has some limitations from Shopify regarding the layout and styling. This means that the banner inside checkout is using from our app the following settings:
1. Banner type
2. Privacy / Imprint links
3. Content & Translations
Additionally we offer some more options specifically for the checkout process. There are:
Persist Banner Post-Consent: Enable this to keep the banner visible at checkout, even after initial (from the storefront and before entering the checkout) consent is given. This option nhances transparency and reaffirms consent.
Collapsible Banner Mode: This option lets the banner load in a collapsed state at checkout which is saving space on the page. A button will allow for expansion to view more details.
You have not added the checkout extension within Shopify's checkout editor. You can find this in your store settings under "Checkout". Make sure to add the corresponding extension to checkout.
The option Persist Banner Post-Consent is unchecked and you have already given consent before checkout.
If none of the above apply to your block, there may be an error. Please reach out via our in-app support chat and we will be more than happy to assist.
