Ensure full accessibility and compliance for international customers by enabling a multilingual cookie consent banner in your Shopify store using Pandectes GDPR Compliance.
Introduction
This guide walks you through the steps required to configure a multilingual cookie banner using Pandectes GDPR Compliance. The multilingual banner ensures that visitors from different regions see your consent message in their native language, helping you stay compliant with international regulations.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open Language Settings
- Log in to your Shopify admin and open the Pandectes GDPR Compliance app.
- Go to the Settings section.
- Click on the Language & translations tab.
Step 2: Set your banner's default language
- In the Published languages section, you can choose the default language for your banner.
- All languages are supported by our app and for all EU languages there is available translation.
- To access auto-translation for non-EU languages, you must upgrade to the Enterprise Plan to use the Google Translate feature.
Step 3: Add more languages
Add more languages if you want to have a Multilingual banner.
Step 4: Choose Language Detection Method
In the Language detection on the right side of the page there is a dropdown to choose how the app should determine which language to show for each visitor.
- From user preferences (browser)
Detects and uses the browser's default language set by the user.
- From IP address (geolocation)
Uses geolocation data (based on the visitor's IP) to determine their country and select the appropriate language.
- From URL
Automatically detects the language from your store's URL if you’re using a translation app or Shopify’s native multilingual support.
- From store language (locale)
Detects and applies the current store language (as defined in the Shopify locale settings).
