How to enable, disable, or test the banner in admin-only mode (New Version)

Overview


Status controls sit at the top of Settings > Banner.


You can run the banner in three states:


  • Disabled — the banner is off for storefront visitors.
  • Enabled for admins only — logged-in Shopify admins can see the banner; shoppers do not.
  • Enabled — the banner follows your Privacy region settings for visitors.


The status line also summarizes consent, for example Strict opt-in — Worldwide, from Settings > Consent model & regions.


Admin-only mode is the right way to test layout, style, and copy on the real theme without showing a draft banner to customers.

Before you start


  • Pandectes Core app embed must be on in the theme.
  • Open the storefront while logged into Shopify Admin to test admin-only mode.
  • A private window (not logged into Admin) shows what customers see.


Change banner status


  1. Open Shopify Admin > Apps > Pandectes GDPR Compliance.
  2. Go to Settings > Banner.
  3. Use the status controls at the top:
    • Disable — turns the banner off for visitors.
    • Enable for admins — admin-only testing.
    • Enable — live for visitors in the regions you selected under Privacy.
  5. Confirm the status text: Banner is enabled, disabled, or enabled for admins only.

What each state does


Disabled


Visitors do not see the cookie notice, preferences, or consent widget. Do not leave the store in this state if you need a visible consent banner in regulated regions.


Enabled for admins only


Use this while you change Layout, Content, or Style. Ask a teammate who is not logged into Admin to confirm they do not see the banner.


Enabled


The banner is live. Visibility still depends on Settings > Consent model & regions (worldwide vs selected regions) and Advanced visibility rules (delay, hidden paths, bots).


Preview without going live
