How to Integrate Pandectes with Google Tag Manager on Your Shopify Thank You Page

Ensure your Shopify store is compliant with GDPR by integrating Pandectes with Google Tag Manager on the Thank You page.

Introduction

To comply with GDPR and maximize data privacy, it’s essential that you manage tags and consent correctly on all key pages, including the post-checkout Thank You page. This step-by-step guide shows you how to integrate the Pandectes GDPR Compliance app with Google Tag Manager (GTM) using our official GTM template.

This integration helps activate Google Consent Mode and ensures that tracking scripts only fire based on the user’s consent.

This feature is available on all paid plans. You can explore our pricing options here.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Add the Pandectes Template to GTM

Navigate to GTM > Templates and in the Tag Templates section, click on the Search Gallery button, then search for the Pandectes CMP (Consent Mode).

Open your GTM Workspace and navigate to the Templates section. Search for Pandectes in the Community Template Gallery. Select and add the Pandectes CMP (Consent Mode) template to your workspace.

Step 2: Create a Tag Using the Template

GTM > Tags > New > Tag Configuration

Create a new tag and choose the Pandectes CMP (Consent Mode) template as the tag type. In the configuration panel, define your default consent status according to your legal requirements.

Step 3: Configure a Trigger for the Thank You Page

GTM > Triggers > New > Consent Initialization

Go to the Triggering section for the tag. Create a new trigger using Consent Initialization as the trigger type. Configure the trigger to fire on URLs that ends with the path /thank-you.

Using Consent Initialization ensures that consent decisions are respected before other tags run.

Step 4: Publish Changes

Once everything is set, Submit your GTM container changes to publish the update live on your store.

Conclusion

By integrating Pandectes with GTM on your Shopify Thank You page, you enhance both transparency and compliance with GDPR and other global privacy laws. This ensures Google Consent Mode is respected and tracking only occurs when allowed.

Always consult your legal team when configuring consent defaults or deciding how data is processed. Pandectes does not provide legal advice.
