How to open the Web Accessibility Dialog from a menu link using a custom trigger

Overview

You can allow visitors to open web accessibility at any time by adding a link to your store’s navigation menu.

This is useful if you want to provide visitors with a “Web Accessibility” link in your footer or header menu.

When clicked, this link will open the web accessibility dialog, allowing visitors to enable functions/profiles.

Step 1 – Enable the Custom Open/Reopen Option

First, enable the option inside the Pandectes app.

Navigate to Settings > Web Accessibility > Style enable the checkbox: Custom open

Once enabled, the banner can be opened using a link with the following anchor:

#reopenWidget

Now you can add a link to your store menu.

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin.
  2. Go to Online Store > Content > Menus.
  3. Select the menu where you want to add the link (for example Footer).
  4. Click Add menu item.

When creating the menu item:

  • Name: Cookie settings (or any label you prefer)
  • Link: #reopenWidget

Example:

Name: Web Accessibility
Link: #reopenWidget

Click Add, then Save the menu.

Visit your store and click the new menu link.

When clicked, the web accessibility dialog will open, allowing visitors to:

  • Enable functions
  • Enable accessibility profiles
  • Change languages

Summary

To allow visitors to open the web accessibility from a menu link:

  1. Enable Custom open in Settings > Web Accessibility > Style.
  2. Add a navigation link in Shopify with the URL #reopenWidget.
  3. Visitors can use this link to open the web accessibility and manage the functions at any time.
