How to Test the Microsoft Ads Consent Mode Integration

This guide will walk you through a step-by-step process to test whether consent is being handled properly and UET events are firing in accordance with user preferences.

What You’ll Need

- A Microsoft Ads UET Tag configured correctly in your account
- The Pandectes GDPR Compliance app installed and configured on your store
- A published consent banner with the appropriate Microsoft tag settings enabled in the integration section
- Edge browser
- The UET Tag Helper in the Edge browser

Testing in Edge Browser

Step 1: Open Your Store in a Clean Session

Use an incognito tab or clear all cookies and local storage from your browser before visiting your store.
This ensures no previous consent data affects the test.

Step 2: Enable the UET Tag Helper

Once your store is loaded, click the UET Tag Helper extension in your browser and toggle the switch from Off to On.

Step 3: Refresh the Page

Now refresh your store's page. This allows the extension to monitor all UET tags firing on page load.

In the UET Tag Helper, find the UET tag linked to your Microsoft Ads account.
Open the tag details and look for the `Consent State (asc)` parameter under “Parameter details”.

- The `Consent State (asc)` value should be Denied.
This confirms that the UET tag is not tracking until consent is granted.

Click Accept All or consent to Marketing cookies via the Pandectes banner on your store.

Step 6: Refresh the Page Again

Reload the page once more to apply the consent changes.

Reopen the UET Tag Helper and check the `Consent State (asc)` parameter again.

- The `Consent State (asc)` value should now be `Granted`.
This means that tracking is now allowed and the UET tag is firing properly.
