Store Scanning
Overview
Store scanning helps you detect cookies and other browser-based technologies used on your Shopify store.
In Pandectes GDPR Compliance, the scanner reviews your storefront and reports detected items such as cookies, script tags, HTML storage, iframes, and pixels. You can use the results to review cookie categories, identify unknown providers, and update your cookie declaration.

How to access store scanning
From your Shopify admin:
- Go to Apps.
- Open Pandectes GDPR.
- In the Pandectes sidebar, click Reports.
The Reports page includes the following cards:
Report card | Purpose |
|---|---|
Scan report | View the findings of the latest store scan. This includes detected cookies, scripts, storage, iframes, and pixels. |
Consents list | View detailed consent records submitted by visitors. |
Consent analytics | Review banner impressions, consent decisions, and engagement breakdowns. |
Customer data requests | View data requests submitted by customers. |
Consent archives | Download monthly archives of consent records. |
Recommendations | Review suggestions to improve your cookie declaration. |
To review store scan results, click View report on the Scan report card.

Requesting a new scan
From the Scan history page, click Request new scan to start a new store scan.
A confirmation modal appears before the scan starts. Review the store domain shown in the modal, then click Submit.
After submission, the scan is added to the scan history. The status updates when the scan is completed.
Step | Action |
|---|---|
1 | Open Scan history. |
2 | Click Request new scan. |
3 | Review the store domain. |
4 | Click Submit. |
5 | Wait for the scan status to update. |

Cookie breakdown
The scan report includes a cookie breakdown section.
Cookies are grouped in two ways:

|---|---|
By category | How detected cookies are classified. |
By provider | Which providers are associated with detected cookies. |
Cookie categories may include:
Category | Description |
|---|---|
Strictly necessary | Cookies required for the store to work correctly. |
Functionality | Cookies used for preferences or enhanced store functionality. |
Performance | Cookies used for analytics or performance measurement. |
Targeting | Cookies used for advertising or marketing. |

The provider chart groups cookies by detected provider, such as Shopify, Google, Meta, or unknown providers.
Cookies from unknown providers or unclassified cookies may need to be reviewed and classified manually.

To view previous scans, click Scan history from the Scan report page.
The Scan history page lists previous scans and shows:
Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
Status | Current scan status, such as completed or pending. |
Date | When the scan was created or completed. |
Origin | Whether the scan was started manually or automatically. |

Click View report next to a scan to open the report for that specific scan.

Scanning password-protected stores
If your store is password protected, the scanner may not be able to access all storefront pages.
When this happens, Pandectes shows a warning message on the scan report or scan history page.
To scan a password-protected store, click Scan behind password and provide the required storefront password.
Scenario | Result |
|---|---|
Store is public | The scanner can access public storefront pages. |
Store is password protected and no password is provided | Scan results may be incomplete. |
Store is password protected and password is provided | The scanner can access the storefront behind the password. |
Without the storefront password, scan results may be incomplete because the scanner can only access pages that are publicly available.
