Our app is compliant with the new Google Consent Mode v2 requirement

Introduction

In this guide, you'll get everything you need to know to get started with Pandectes for GDPR and other data regulation compliance. This guide assumes that you have already installed Pandectes GDPR Compliance app on your store.

Steps

The steps described below are:

1. Enable Shopify Customer Privacy Settings
2. Banner Type / Consent Mode
3. Privacy Policy Page
4. Customer data requests Page

Folow the steps:

Step 1. Enable Shopify Customer Privacy Settings

Navigate to Settings of your Shopify Admin Dashboard.

Select Customer Privacy from the left sidebar and click Cookie Banner. Ensure Pandectes GDPR Compliance is present in Installed privacy apps.

On the Cookie Banner page, click on More actions and select Use custom cookie banner.

From the Use Custom Cookie Banner modal, choose the regions in which you want the marketing and analytics data to be collected by Shopify after user consent and click Confirm.

By default are selected 31 regions (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom). You can also select more regions if you want.

Open the Pandectes GDPR Compliance app.

Inside the app navigate on the top to Settings and then to Banner > Behavior, and on the top, you can configure the Banner Type / Consent Mode.

To comply with the regional laws, we recommend you select Accept/Decline or Accept only.

Note: If you are on any paid plan, we recommend selecting Preferences (which is more detailed). Under the Preferences, please select the Strict policy (or Strict/Loose Policy) and make sure at least the Decline and Accept buttons are checked for you.

Step 3. Privacy Policy Page

Our cookie banner is good to have a link to your privacy policy page. Creating a Privacy Policy page that follows all the necessary rules to be compliant can be quite a burden to carry, and you probably have no time or resources needed to do it the right way. So if you still need one, the good news is that you can proceed with just a few clicks in seconds by following our guide here.

Once your privacy policy page is ready, you can link it directly to the banner. Open the app from the "Apps" heading on the left-side menu > "Settings" > "Banner" > “Behavior”, and scroll down on the Privacy Policy Link area.

When you click on the area of the link, a dropdown will open with all the store pages. From the list, you can select your privacy policy link. Also, with the link on the top of the link, you can preview the selected page or even refresh the dropdown pages.

Note: if your store has multiple domains or languages, you must use a relative path for your privacy policy page link. To do so, you can clear the link field by clicking the x on the right, and then you can type the relative path of the privacy policy page starting with a slash and then select the option "Create '/......'".

Step 4. Customer data requests Page

The customer data requests page is your final step. To keep transparency, you need to ensure your visitors are fully aware of what data is being collected and how it’s being used, and also give them the option to update their consent and make any requests regarding their personal data collected on your store.

The Customer Data Requests form needs access to the Customers & Orders data to function correctly. So the first step is to provide the necessary permissions to our application by clicking the Grant access button.

As mentioned in the installation guide, this page can be created in two ways.

The quickest way is with the code snippet. Open the app from the Apps heading on the left-side menu and then follow the Settings > Customer data requests, and on the top, you can click on the "View instructions" button. On the popup, copy the snippet code.

<div id="pandectes-dsr-container"><!-- leave empty --></div>
<script src="https://s.pandect.es/scripts/pandectes-dsr.js"></script>

Then on the left-side menu, open Online Store > Pages. Click "Add Page" on the top right and put as a title Customer Data Request or Data Subject Requests (or any other title you want). In the Content, click the right button that says "Show HTML" and in the textarea, paste the code snippet. Finally, Save from the top right.
