Cookie Scanner Settings
Configure how the Pandectes cookie scanner runs, so your cookie list stays current with the tracking technologies on your store.
Where to find the settings
In the Pandectes sidebar, click All settings, then open Cookie scanner.
Store access for password-protected stores
If your Shopify store is password protected (for example before launch), the scanner cannot reach your storefront without the password.
- Enter your Shopify storefront password in the Password field under Store access.
- Keep the password updated, or scans will stop at the password page.
- Click Find store password to open it in Shopify. It is under Online Store > Preferences (Shopify guide).
Scan types
Scan type | Description |
|---|---|
Manual | A scan you start yourself with Request new scan. |
Scheduled | A scan that runs automatically on the schedule you set. |
Auto | The scan that runs when you install the app. |
You can see the type of each scan in the Started by column of Scan history.
Run a manual scan
- Open Reports & analytics and click View report on the Scan report card.
- Click Request new scan.
- In the New scan window, choose a Scan location and click Start scan.
The Cookie scanner button in the same window opens these settings.
Schedule scans
Under Scan schedule, choose a Scan frequency:
- Never: no automatic scans.
- Weekly: choose the day under Repeat on day, then the Hour and Minute under At time.
- Monthly: choose a day of the month (or Last day of the month) and the time.
When a schedule is on, also choose the Scan location the scheduled scans run from. Scheduled scans count toward the daily limit of 5 scans.
Follow-up actions
Follow-up actions run automatically after each scan, in this order:

Classify from the Pandectes catalogue | Records added without a category get one from the Pandectes catalogue. AI is never used automatically. |
Remove records not found | Records the scanner added are removed after several scans in a row miss them (set in Scans in a row) and they have not been seen for 14 days. |
Records you created or edited yourself are never grouped, changed or removed automatically. If Add new records is off, new findings only appear in the scan report.
Click Save after you change any setting.
Best practice
Turn on scheduled scans and keep the store password current (if your store has one). This keeps your cookie inventory and cookie declaration accurate without manual work.
