Recommended setup for worldwide sellers

If your Shopify store sells worldwide, visitors may come from regions with different privacy and consent requirements.

For most worldwide stores, the recommended setup is Autopilot. It detects the visitor’s region and automatically applies the appropriate policy based on the country/region's data regulation, without requiring knowledge of each law's details.

Use Custom configuration only if you need to manually assign Opt-in or Opt-out at the region level.

You sell worldwide and want Pandectes to manage the regional behavior for you.

Custom configuration

Banner visibility

Configure regional visibility based on your store’s needs.

For stores selling worldwide, the recommended setup is to enable Worldwide visibility and ensure the recommended regions are selected below. This keeps the banner visible globally while still allowing Pandectes to apply the appropriate regional consent behavior.

Opt-in everywhere vs regional setup

Setup

Pros

Cons

Autopilot

Best balance for stores selling worldwide. Regions that need Opt-in get stricter consent behavior, while other regions can use Opt-out to preserve analytics, marketing events, attribution, and personalization.

(No cons)

Opt-in everywhere

Simple global setup.

In regions such as the U.S., where strict consent rules are not required, non-essential cookies will still be blocked until the visitor gives consent. This will reduce analytics data, ad attribution, marketing events, and personalization.

Opt-out everywhere

More analytics and marketing data because scripts can usually run earlier. Less interruption for visitors.

In regions such as Europe, where strict privacy laws apply, tracking visitors with non-essential cookies before consent is not permitted and will result in non-compliant behavior under regulations such as the GDPR.

  1. Open the Pandectes GDPR Compliance app.
  2. Go to Settings > Consent Model & Regions
  3. Select Autopilot.
  4. Click Save.

Option B - How to configure manually with Custom configuration

Use this only if you want to manually control the regional policy.

  1. Open the Pandectes GDPR Compliance app.
  2. Go to Settings > Consent Model & Regions
  3. Select Custom configuration.
  4. Assign Opt-in or Opt-out to the required regions.
  5. Click Save.

For a worldwide setup, use these buttons:

  • Accept
  • Decline
  • Preferences

You can apply this in Settings > Banner > Layout tab.

This lets visitors accept all cookies, decline non-essential cookies, or manage consent by category.

Required pages to add to your store

A worldwide setup should also include the correct privacy pages in your storefront.
