Customer Data Requests - Email Templates

In this guide, you will learn how to use the refreshed email-template editor for customer data request emails. Follow the next steps to edit subjects and bodies, insert Liquid variables, preview emails, send tests, and restore defaults.

Navigate to Apps > Pandectes > Settings > Email templates.

Steps

1. Open the email templates editor

Navigate to Apps > Pandectes > Settings > Email templates.

On this page you can edit the email templates used for customer data requests.

You can edit these templates:

  • Guest verification
  • Data portability
  • Data rectification
  • Data erasure

2. Choose the recipient (when available)

For templates that have both customer and merchant versions, use the Recipient selector to choose which version you want to edit.

The editor updates the subject, body, available variables, and preview based on the selected template and recipient.

3. Insert Liquid variables

The editor shows an Insert a variable section. Select a variable to copy its Liquid token, then paste it into the subject or body.

Examples of variables include:

  • Customer details, such as customer name or email
  • Store details, such as store name, store URL, or store logo
  • Request details, such as request links or comments
  • Merchant links, such as the app URL or email settings URL

Note: The available variables change depending on the template and recipient you are editing.

4. Preview the rendered email

The preview panel shows the rendered email beside the editor. Use it to confirm that variables, links, and formatting look correct before saving.

You can switch between Desktop and Mobile preview modes.

Note: The preview uses sample values only. Real customers and merchants receive emails with the real request and store data.

5. Send a test email

Select Send test email to send a test version of the current template.

The test email flow asks for a recipient email address and can add a [TEST] marker to the subject.

6. Restore the default template

If a template has been customized, select Revert to default to restore the original Pandectes template.

The button is disabled when the selected template is already using the default content.

Note: The customized/default status applies to the selected template and recipient.

Final Result

After completing these steps:

  • You can open and edit DSR templates from Settings > Email templates
  • You can switch between customer and merchant versions with Recipient
  • Liquid variables can be copied and inserted into the subject or body
  • The live preview confirms formatting in Desktop and Mobile modes
  • Test emails can be sent, and customized templates can be reverted to default

Warning: Save your changes before switching template or language, or your edits will be lost.
