How to show the legal guarantee notice in the cart

Overview

The legal guarantee notice normally sits on the product page, under Add to cart. On the Plus plan you can also show it in the cart, where shoppers review their order before checkout.

Cart placement is an addition, not a replacement. The product page notice stays where it is.

This article covers how to set up the cart placement. Whether your store needs the notice in the cart as well as on the product page is a legal question, and this is general information rather than legal advice. For a binding assessment, ask a qualified lawyer.

What you need

  • The app installed and the product page notice already working. If it is not, start with How to install and set up Pandectes EU Warranty & GARAN.
  • The Plus plan. Cart placement is not available on Basic.
  • A theme whose cart accepts app blocks. Most Online Store 2.0 themes do on the cart page.

Check where you stand

Open Shopify Admin > Apps > Pandectes EU Warranty & GARAN and look at the Legal Notice (Cart) row on the Storefront status card.

Legal Notice (Cart) row on the Storefront status card with the Plus badge and the See Plus plan button

The row reads

What it means

Plus, with a See Plus plan button

You are on Basic. Cart placement is locked.

Live

The notice is rendering in your cart.

On Basic this row is not a failed check. It is a feature that is not part of your plan, and it has no effect on the product page notice.

Upgrade to Plus

  1. Select See Plus plan on that row, or open Plan in the app sub-navigation.
  2. Choose Monthly or Annual at the top. Annual saves 17%.
  3. Under Plus, select Start free trial. The trial runs for 7 days.

Plus is $9 per month, and the cart is one of several things it unlocks.

Add the notice to your cart

Cart placement uses a theme block, the same way the product page does. Adding the block to your product template does not put anything in the cart, so this is a separate step.

  1. Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize on your published theme.
  2. Change the template selector at the top of the editor to Cart.
  3. Select Add block > Apps > Pandectes Legal Notice, or search for Pandectes.
  4. Drag the block where you want the notice, usually near the subtotal or above the checkout button.
  5. Save the theme.
  6. Back in the app, select Check again on the Storefront status card.

A cart drawer is a separate surface. If your theme opens a slide-out drawer instead of sending shoppers to /cart, that drawer is its own section, and not every theme lets app blocks into it. Set up the cart page first, then check the drawer. If your theme's drawer does not accept app blocks, the notice shows on the cart page only.

Verify it on your storefront

  1. Add a product to your cart in a private window.
  2. Open the cart.
  3. In Always visible mode you see the official artwork. In Collapsed and As a popup you see the Legal guarantee trigger, and the artwork once you open it.

The cart shows one notice for the whole cart, not one per line item. That is intended.

If the notice does not appear in the cart

Work through these in order.

What to do

Your plan

If the Plus trial ended, the store drops back to Basic and the Legal Notice (Cart) row shows Plus again.

The theme

The app reads your published theme. A block saved on a draft or a duplicate does not count.

The block

Confirm Pandectes Legal Notice is on the Cart template, not only on the product template.

The master switch

Legal Notice > Enabled controls both surfaces. Off means nothing shows anywhere.

Admins only

This testing mode shows the notice in the theme editor and theme preview only, never on the live storefront.

Markets

If Legal Notice > Style > Markets > EU markets only is on and you are browsing a non-EU market, nothing renders.

If the product page notice is missing too, the cause is upstream of the cart. Start with Why the legal guarantee notice is not showing on a product page.
