How to configure the legal guarantee notice

Overview

Everything about how the notice looks and reads lives on one page: Shopify Admin > Apps > Pandectes EU Warranty & GARAN > Notice. It has a Style tab and a Content tab, with a live preview beside both.

Which products show the notice is controlled separately, on the Exclusion page.

Before you start

Finish the install first, including the artwork sync. See How to install and set up Pandectes EU Warranty & GARAN.

Turn the notice on or off

The status card at the top of Notice reads Live on storefront when everything is running. On the right of that card:

Enabled: the master switch. Off means no shopper sees the notice.
Admins only Plus: a testing mode.

Admins only does not mean "visible to logged-in staff". It shows the notice in the theme editor and theme preview only. It does not show it on the live storefront, not even for the store owner. To check the notice before the deadline, preview your theme. To show it on the live store, turn Enabled on, which also makes it visible to shoppers.

Legal notice: the mandatory notice only.
Legal notice & GARAN: adds the GARAN label. It still appears only on products that have GARAN data and a qualifying producer guarantee.

Option	What the shopper sees
As a popup	A Legal guarantee trigger that opens the artwork in a dialog.
Collapsed	A Legal guarantee summary that expands to the artwork.
Always visible	The artwork rendered inline under Add to cart on page load.

In Collapsed and As a popup the artwork image is only requested once a shopper opens the disclosure. That is intended. If you want the artwork visible without a click, choose Always visible.

Markets

EU markets only hides the notice outside the EU. Leave it off to show the notice in every market.

Turn this on with care: if you browse your own store on a non-EU market while the toggle is on, the notice will be absent everywhere and the install will look broken.

Styling

Custom CSS `Plus`	Free-form CSS targeting `.eu-warranty` and related classes.

Styling never touches the artwork itself. The notice and the GARAN label are the official images from Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 and have to be shown unchanged. They cannot be recoloured, redrawn, cropped, or reproportioned. The styling controls apply to the surrounding text and links only.

Content tab

Localization

Default language: the wording shoppers see when their store language matches, and the fallback for every other language.
Extra languages: Basic includes one language. Plus unlocks all 24 EU languages, matched automatically to the shopper.

Texts

Each field is capped at 200 characters. Leave a field empty to use the curated default, shown as the placeholder. The defaults are already translated per language, so blank is the right answer for most stores.

Control which products show the notice

Open Exclusion. The table lists every product where the notice is hidden, with a Reason column naming the rule that hid it. That column is the fastest answer to "why is the notice missing on this one product?".

Exclusions come from two layers:

Smart defaults Plus: automatic detection of gift cards, digital and download product types, services, and B2B lines.
Exclude filters: your own rules by tag, product type, vendor, and collection. Available on Basic.

Showing the notice on exempt goods can create compliance risk, so review this list rather than assuming the defaults are enough.

Verify on your storefront

Open a product page in a private window.
Look under Add to cart.
In Always visible mode you should see the artwork. In the other two modes you should see the Legal guarantee trigger, and the artwork after you open it.
